Our Client Acquitted After Evidence Excluded from Trial
May 7, 2018
Vancouver – We are pleased to announce that our client was found not guilty of serious drug trafficking related charges after the court found that our client’s rights were breached by the police.
In a 48 page written ruling, the Court accepted our argument that the investigators had violated our clients rights, finding that these were “serious breaches” of our client’s constitutionally protected interests and ultimately ruling that allowing the evidence gathered to be admitted “would undermine the integrity of the justice system” and “bring the administration of justice into disrepute”. With the evidence excluded from the trial, our client was acquitted of all charges.
Joven Narwal, counsel for the accused, said after court, “We are obviously very pleased with the result, which not only vindicated our client’s reputation, but also vindicated the constitutional rights he enjoys under our Charter of Rights and Freedoms. A case of this nature takes much effort, determination and stamina to win and we are proud of the work we have done in this trial”.
